street footie Football Club went into the fifth round of play of the Maryland SoccerPlex Men’s Open, sitting third in the league, and faced off against first-place Saturday FC. With clear skies in the forecasts, both teams looked to play their best football as the match foretold the distinct leader of the competition for the following week.

A match filled with promise and excitement as street footie (3W-0D-2L) looked to break the league leader’s unbeaten run of form. street footie lost 3-2 to second-placed Barnfield(4W-1L-0D) in their last match, who put three away in their 5-3 encounter with Saturday FC (5W-0D-0L). Saturday FC would be brimming with confidence as they took on the challenge to match the best defense in the league.

Player of the Week

Soto was the outstanding player in the humbling 2-9 defeat against Saturday FC. Jose Soto had a good game, winning most of his personal duels and pushing the team forward with his leadership.

Within the early minutes of the contest, it was clear that fancy football was on the menu. Both teams went at each other, not afraid to show what talents they possess. street footie was the first to put points on the scoreboard; however, their inability to capitalize on a second opportunity would surely haunt them. A well-worked ball on the right flunk by Saturday FC was the first to breathe confidence into their camp. Distort, street footie would go into the break down by 1-4.

The second half would continue with no favors for street footie as a sending-off would occur in the early minutes, causing a commotion in their camp. Saturday FC showed a professional display as they never put the foot off the gas pedal with the game’s final score standing at 2-9.
