Brandon Ayala has been named street footie’s Vice Captain. The 26-year-old tenacious center midfielder joined the Orange Army in October 2022 from MSSL D2 Champions Elite Vision and has become a regular in street footie’s first team.
This decision comes days before street footie begins its campaign in the 2023 Rowland Cup and Howard County Leagues respectively. The Oranges will look on to Ayala’s leadership to get the most out of our players.
Ayala's Impact
Ayala made four appearances in the Maryland Super Soccer League D2 for street footie after making the switch from Elite Vision. Brandon Ayala played the entirety of the match in street footie’s highlight 1-2 win against Baltimore Kickers in MSSL 2.
In the build-up to the 2023 Rowland Cup Round 1 match against VA United, Ayala scored a well-placed header against Untouchable Lions in an away friendly.
Playing Style
The American central midfielder is a persistent presence in the defending phases. Ayala is a workhorse in the middle of the field and is always looking to link up with his midfield partners. “His athleticism allows him to contribute in all thirds of the pitch, linking the defense with the attack, and still have the energy to make a rare attacking run,” said Technical Director Barak Shechter on Ayala’s best attributes.
