street footie Football Club has undergone a tumultuous inaugural campaign. And with the year nearing a close, the Orange Army can look back at its highlights, including some impressive performances to stamp their existence.
Flawless Victory
A flawless 2 -0 victory vs. Bashgah in the first District Premier Soccer League winter season was enough to demonstrate the club’s growth and close the 2022 campaign. Â
Germantown Soccer Plex Seven Aside
street footie started the year needing more to complete a squad for the Germantown Soccer Plex seven aside league, only managing to sign a goalkeeper on the last day of registration. An effort that saw the orange army kick off with a flying start to hold the top spot for the bulk of the season’s first few weeks.
Feasibility Season
The feasibility season ignited a spark for a greater conquest and an exit from the Germantown Soccer Plex seven-aside season, leading the Orange Army to their eleven-aside campaign.
Mason Dixon Soccer League
For their first game of the Mason Dixon Soccer League spring season, street footie Football Club faced a now familiar opposition in Fredrick Kings. At the time, the club could only filed eleven players with only one visible substitute on the bench. The day would end with a humbling result that signified the new heights the club would need to achieve.Â
In True street footie Fashion
In true street footie fashion, the club sort a more stable challenge. With no fear, the Orange Army went on to play the best teams around Maryland in the Maryland Super Soccer Summer League. Featured in the group stage with Steel Pulse, MoCo 1776, and Alexandria United, street footie would claim the third spot, with their most significant result being a 2 – 1 victory over MoCo 1776.Â
Momentum and Spirit
And with momentum and spirit, street footie took on an even more significant league challenge, facing established clubs with history who were all trying to push for promotion in the Maryland Super Soccer League. The season of the Maryland Super Soccer League Division Two Fall 2022 is the most competitive to date, with the most memorable result, a 1-2Â victory over Baltimore Kickers in an outstanding performance.
Set the Bar High
Having already set the bar high for themselves, the boys must seek improvement with next year promising exciting competitions. The next challenge for street footie Football Clubs comes in the Rowland Cup 2023.Â
Oldest Cup Competition in Maryland
The Rowland Cup prides itself on being the oldest cup competition in Maryland, and the state’s Open championship attracts the best clubs from competing leagues. All clubs registered with the MSSA are eligible to participate in the first round of play of the Roland Cup.
