Season Preview: Fall 2023 United Premier Soccer League DMV Division One

The UPSL, or United Premier Soccer League, is an American professional development soccer league founded in 2011 to provide a competitive league structure for teams in Southern California.

In its short existence, the UPSL has made strides at becoming the most exciting pro-development league to glue one’s eyes to. Concurrent with its affiliations with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA), the UPSL boasts over 400 teams from 30 conferences spread across the United States in addition to the launch of UPSL MX and UPSL Women in 2021.

The UPSL operates with a promotion and relegation system, ensuring competitive balance and providing teams opportunities to climb the ranks. Typically, the UPSL has a two-season format, with the Fall season starting in September and running until the first weekend in February, cumulated by a national playoff, while the Spring season begins in March and runs through to the first weekend in August and concludes with a national playoff.

The Fall 2023 United Premier Soccer League season is the twenty-first edition of the competition. And among the cluster of 400-plus clubs competing in the United Premier Soccer League are thirteen Major League Soccer Academy all looking to make it to the national playoffs:

D.C. United Academy, F.C. Cincinnati Academy, Philadelphia Union Academy, Inter Miami C.F. Academy, Atlanta United Academy, St Louis City Academy, Huston Dynamos Academy, LA Galaxy Academy, LAFC Academy, RSL Academy, Austin FC Academy, Columbus Crew Academy

A total of 26 teams will compete in the DMV Conference during the Fall 2023 season—eleven clubs, including D.C. United Academy forms the DMV South Premier. At the same time, the DMV North has nine clubs representing the Premier Division, and the newly-formed DMV Division One will see six clubs battle for promotion.

Bridge Sports Club II

Bridge Sports Club II is the reserve squad of Bridge Sports Club, an American soccer club established in 2020. The club is based in Prince George’s County, Maryland, and competes in United Premier Soccer League DMV North Premier. Bridge Sports Club II play their home games in a red and away in a white and blue kit.

Frederick Kings

Frederick Kings is an American soccer club established in 2021. The club is based in Fredrick County, Maryland, and competes in United Premier Soccer League DMV Division One. Frederick Kings play their home games in black/yellow and asway in gray/black kits.

MSI

MSI, or the Montgomery Soccer Inc., is a nonprofit youth soccer organization based in Montgomery County, Maryland, established in 1971.

MSI operates its own league structure for its recreational program, the Classic, and other competitive programs that might play in regional leagues or competitions that involve other clubs and organizations from the surrounding areas. MSI will compete in UPSL DMV Division One for the first time this fall.

MSI Kit details can change over time and might be specific to the program or age group.

Cesena USA

ODFC Cesena USA is a Loudoun County club founded in 2002. Old Dominion Football Club ODFC is a 501-c-3 organization with an academy begins with an under-5 program which leads to its travel team. Cesena USA will compete in UPSL DMV Division One this fall. 

Cesena USA plays home games in yellow/black and away in a white kit.

street footie

street footie Football Club is a Montgomery County, Maryland-based Club established in Spring 2022 as an amateur side playing against other local teams and competing in the Maryland SoccerPlex Competitive Men’s Open and Mason Dixon Soccer League.

street footie F.C. played its inaugural semi-pro season in the Maryland Super Soccer League Division II, which started September 11, 2022. street footie Academy program begins with their U18 Montrose Squad, which feeds into the U23 Hathaway MSSL D1 Squad, the feeder to the street footie F.C. United Premier Soccer League Division One Squad. street footie plays their home games in orange and away in blue kits.


street footie F.C. will kick start its inaugural United Premier Soccer League campaign on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 7:00 pm with a season curtain raiser vs MSI. The Match venue is Laytonia Recreational Park #3, 7300 Airpark Rd, Gaithersburg, MD 20879.

Sure Sports II

Sure Sports II is the reserve team for Sure Sports, a Columbia, Maryland, soccer club established in 2010. The club competes in the United Premier Soccer League DMV Premier and the Maryland Super Soccer League Division One. Sure Sports II competes in UPSL DMV Division One. Sure Sports plays their home games in red/black and away in blue kits.
